Animal Control Taking Too Long – King County, WA
Aggressive stray dogs have been reported multiple times, yet Animal Control arrives days later or not at all. One child was already bitten. We need faster county-level animal services.

Lack of Mental Health Services in County Clinics – Maricopa County, AZ
There’s a severe shortage of therapists in county-run clinics. Some residents have appointments scheduled six months out. A county-wide initiative was promised last year, but nothing has changed.

Delayed Building Permits – Portland, OR
People applying for residential permits have been waiting over 3 months. The online portal keeps crashing, and there's no response from the City Planning Office. This delay is affecting contractors and small developers badly.

No Response to Graffiti Complaints – Houston, TX
A stretch of Main Street has had offensive graffiti for more than a month. Multiple 311 reports have been filed, but no cleanup has happened. Residents are questioning whether the city is selectively ignoring certain neighborhoods.

City Hall Construction Blocking Access – Boston, MA
Ongoing construction outside City Hall is creating serious accessibility issues. Ramps are blocked, temporary pathways are confusing, and seniors with mobility aids are struggling. This is ironic for a government building meant to serve everyone.

Most public parks haven't had proper maintenance this summer. Trash cans overflow, public restrooms are unusable, and there’s no visible security presence. We've emailed the Parks and Rec department multiple times with no meaningful response.

Potholes, Pipes, and Public Dollars: When Street Repairs Get Undermined

There’s nothing quite like freshly paved streets—a smooth ride, fewer car repairs, and that satisfying sense that our tax dollars are hard at work. But in too many neighborhoods, that smooth surface is short-lived.

Just as soon as the city repaves a road, along comes the utility company to dig it back up. Whether it’s for gas lines, fiber optics, or sewer access, these necessary projects often happen after resurfacing, not before. The result? Trenches, patchwork repairs, and uneven streets that feel more like an obstacle course than a commute.

The real kicker? These roads were already fixed—paid for with public funds. Without proper coordination and timely inspections, the money spent on repaving goes to waste while residents foot the bill again with damage to their vehicles.

Cities need stronger oversight and communication. When a road is repaired, there should be a mandate: no digging without review. Public works and utility providers must collaborate to ensure that upgrades happen before—not after—streets are restored.

It’s not just about appearances—it’s about efficiency, accountability, and the wear and tear on our cars and our wallets.
